Central’s Spanish II classes got a treat Feb 26 when they got the chance to talk to another class in El Paso, Texas. The students used the Internet and a webcam to see and speak with students at Socorro Independent School District who also speak Spanish. Each student was given the opportunity to introduce himself or herself and ask questions individually.

“I think it was a really cool idea, it’s a good learning opportunity,” sophomore Caroline Fox said.

The majority of the questions posed by the El Paso students were about the Little Rock Nine, which gave Central students a chance to share the history of their school.

This is a really great idea that was put in action. It’s such a wonderful opportunity for those who are learning Spanish a chance to practice it more often with other students who are on the same level. It also helps open up the socialization plus the idea that the students get to learn a thing or two about El Paso. Wonderful article, great idea!
