Annual health fair approaches for community
Audrey Jaquiss, Staff Writer
In an effort to help the community make more informed decisions about important aspects of their lives, the Wellness Center will hold its eighth annual health fair for students, staff, parents and community members on Thursday, March 18. The event is free.
This year’s theme is “The Beginning of a New Decade, The New Beginning For a Healthier You!” The fair will provide all freshman classes with a speaker for their first-block class. Other speakers will be in various places throughout the day, like the auditorium and gym. Every teacher and student is invited to share in the educational event.
Trained health professionals, members of society and prison inmates are among the speakers and presenters at the fair. Life Strategies, Stride, UAMS, ACH, Baptist Health, the Health Department and other organizations will provide speakers at the event.
Speakers will also facilitate interactive discussions about subjects such as HIV/ AIDS, grief, alcohol and drug abuse, and other issues.
