If you find yourself near SOMA this spring, consider visiting the “Rivera’s Paris” exhibit at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. The museum is open 10 to 8 Wednesday through Friday, 10 to 5 on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and 12 to 5 on Sundays. The museum is not closed to the public on Mondays. Admission is free for all. The exhibit premiered February 7, and it will be there until May 18. Diego Rivera was a famous painter who lived from 1886 to 1957. He is mainly known for his work with cubism, an art form where objects are expressed through geometric shapes from multiple angles. My personal favorite paintings featured in the exhibit are “Montserrat” and “Dos Mujeres.” These paintings were created three years apart.
Overall, the “Rivera’s Paris” exhibit is fascinating because it shows the art created by Diego Rivera during the early 1900s, which was a very influential period for art in Paris.
