With school starting, students are getting back into the things they love. For many that’s playing sports, seeing friends, and joining clubs, like the new photography club.

Even with an existing photography class, junior Rudra Patel, the founder, has chosen to start a new photography club.

“A lot of people want to get interested in photography, but not exactly as a career, and a lot of people may not have time,” Patel said.

With students being limited by required credits, many do not have space in their schedule for elective courses. Patel realized this problem, and it was a key factor in his inspiration for this club.

“Photography club is a perfect place for people to meet and freely do what they want to do,” Patel said.

With Patel and senior Ruthika Matapahti leading the club, they have a certain direction on where they want to steer it.

“We thought of making a club where we can share our photos and our equipment and get feedback from other peers, and have competition so we can keep up the liveliness. That’s the whole idea of the club,” Matapathi said.

Senior Miles Navin, a member of the club, believes students should explore their interest in photography no matter their skill level or equipment.

“It’s the best feeling when you get a really good photo and you show that person the photo, and they have a really good reaction to it, and that’s just worth it,” Navin said.
