I recently contracted a cold and was looking for ways to heal myself through food. As I searched the web for natural remedies to reduce my cold symptoms, I came up with this “Flu-Fighter” smoothie. It’s filled with the following healing ingredients that will surely boost your immunity and rejuvenate your body:

Kale: filled with a variety of nutrients, antioxidants, and vitamins that will replenish your body

Parsley: contains wide range of antioxidants with disease-fighting benefits

Fresh ginger: contains substance called gingerol, which can help lower the risk of infections and inhibit the growth of bacteria

Chia seeds: contains high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, which aid in the absorption of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, & K, and it is a good source of energy, which is important when the body is fighting disease

Orange: contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds including vitamin C, which boosts immunity

Green apple: rich in antioxidants and a variety of minerals that are optimal for health and well-being

Ingredients

Handful of greens (I used kale)

Bunch of parsley

Thumb-sized knob of ginger root

2 TBSP chia seeds soaked overnight in plant milk/water

1 navel orange

½ banana

½ organic green apple

About 3/4 cups water or plant milk

Instructions

For best results, add the greens and water to the blender first, and blend until it is broken down. Then add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
